Key Challenges
Developing NeuStim came with unique challenges and opportunities for innovation. One key aspect was ensuring accurate customization of stimulation patterns to fit various arm sizes and positions, particularly accommodating movements like supination and pronation.
Additionally, creating a reusable stimulation system required separating the flexible circuit from disposable pads, which was achieved through a magnetic connection system. This design allows for quick and secure attachment while maintaining durability and performance over repeated use. Considerable effort was invested in enhancing the flexibility and durability of the components, extending the device's functional lifespan and overall usability.
Our Process
NeuStim is designed with three distinct stimulation pads—extensor, flexor, and thumb—each tailored to conform to the natural shape and movement of the arm and hand.
These pads consist of a disposable layer with a conductive hydrogel and are usable, ruggedized circuit. The connection between the stimulator engine and the pads is facilitated by a magnetic attachment system, allowing for flexibility in configuration. The stimulator can be configured to each user by analyzing muscle responses and refining the stimulation patterns for highly personalized therapy.
